NZ part 3 - Kaikoura (2/2/08)

2/2:
after spending two more days in Christchurch (doesn't seem like a place with a whole lot to see) we started our "stray" tour. This was one more day than we thought but the bus was fully booked yesterday so we couldn't hop on despite calling in prior...anyway first stop Kaikoura (link). This small town is famous for whale watching, snorkeling with dolphins and seals. Seals looked like best value (only 55$ instead of 150$ for the dolphins) and we both haven't seen a seal colony outside of a zoo. With only 16 degrees the water wasn't exactly warm but thick wetsuits (despite its shortness) made it an awsome experience.

Gosh! These cuties are so playful and curious. Holarious to have eye contact underneath the water surface..wow! We finished to off with fish and chips and a nice bath in the hostel's jacuzzi.
